SKILLFUL COMMUNICATION – A NLP SERIES – 1
BUSINESS CASE
We come across statements from team members, colleagues or friends or we make statement like “This is important”, “They don’t like me”, “they are thinking about it”, “he is a better manager”, “This is not good enough”, “I can’t tell them”, “I have to go now”, “I have a lot of fear”, “You don’t like me”, “He is always late, he doesn’t care”, “She scare me”, “When are you going to act responsibly?”. However, have we ever wondered what happens when we hear these statements and how we are responding to these statements. We could also be making these statements. It becomes imperative to understand how these statements have originated. If we watch these statements in depth, and in general, these statements have come about by deleting, generalizing and distorting the deep structure of our experience and bringing them into spoken surface structure. The question is how do we reconnect with the experiences.
The meta model is a set of language patterns and questions that reconnect the deletions, generalizations and the distortions with the experiences that generated them and help in generating an insight into the deep structure behind it
