Welcome to the first of the series on LETS TALK COACHING and the topic is What is Coaching. This is an interactive video interaction with the host and discusses coaching in its simple form
Coaching, according to International Coaching Federation. It has been defined as an “ongoing relationship, which focusses on the client taking action towards the realization of their vision, goals or desires. Coaching uses the process of inquiry and personal discovery to build clients level of awareness and responsibility, and provides structure, support and feedback. The coaching process helps clients both define and achieve professional goals faster and with more ease than would be possible otherwise”

How is Coaching is different from Mentoring. Mentors are people with considerable expertise in a particular field. They are high on knowledge and skills. People who would like to learn more on the subject and build their skills can go to mentors. Mentors support people in their journey. Whereas, a coach need not be an expert. He has the skills essential to build a dialogue with the client. This helps the client bring in the clarity of expectations and builds accountability for their performance.
How is Coaching is different from Teaching. A teacher is a person who has knowledge on the subject and he or she teaches the student who is not aware on the subject. And the student needs to be explained on the essentials of the subject. Besides, having the doubts cleared. However, there is a purpose for teaching. Coaching can help students in building on the applications of their learnings from teaching
